About Community Acupuncture

We are delighted that you have decided to try acupuncture here.

About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a very old method of healthcare that works on both a physical and energetic level. It is best if people try and decide for themselves if it will be a great fit. Your acupuncturist will suggest a treatment plan (frequency of visits and when you might start to feel results) based on your health concerns. Many patients experience great improvements with a few treatments per week, especially initially.

If you have other questions about acupuncture, please check out the free ebook/audio version, Why Did You Put That Needle There? by our friend and fellow community acupuncturist Andy Wegman.

About the Community Setting

We don’t believe cost should detract people from seeking peace in their bodies. Therefore, the goal of community acupuncture is to provide an affordable way to receive the amount of treatment you desire.

During community acupuncture, we treat everyone in a shared space in personal recliners. The shared setting allows us to treat multiple people at on time, significantly reducing your cost of treatment. Skin exposure is minimal; we treat points from the knee to the foot, and from the elbow to the hand. Patients generally talk with their acupuncturist in a private office before the treatment starts. Your acupuncturist will then ask you to choose a comfortable recliner, remove shoes and socks, and roll pants up to your knees and sleeves up to your elbows. After your acupuncturist inserts the needles, your job is simply to relax (and let the needles do their work). You can stay as long as you like; most people stay between 45 minutes and an hour. When you feel ready to leave, simply open your eyes and ring the bell next to you. Your acupuncturist will come over and remove your needles.

We have ambient music in the treatment room; however you are welcome to bring iPods or other personal listening devices. Some patients enjoy listening to their own music or a guided meditation. You are also welcome to bring your own neck pillows. To keep you warm, there are blankets in the clinic for your use.

About Our Business

Joy Community Acupuncture is a clinic is built to serve your community! We depend entirely on fees for service.  If you enjoy your experience, please tell your friends. Word of mouth referrals keep us up and running.

The purpose of the sliding scale ($25 -$45 per visit and a $15 new patient paperwork fee) is to make sure you can get acupuncture frequently enough to see your desired results. You are encouraged to come in often, and use the sliding scale to suit your financial needs. We want you to get great results and tell everyone you know that acupuncture works!
